CONFERENCE HISTORY
The idea of organizing a series of conference on “Trichinella and trichinellosis” met with a wide and positive response from the community of veterinarians related to veterinary inspection, practitioners involved in the supervision of food of animal origin, hygienists, parasitologists and a wide scientific audience.
The leading topic of each conference is trichinellosis and related issues including the biology of these parasites, their occurrence in animals, pathogenesis and epidemiology. In addition to the above issues, each conference includes sessions on other parasitoses, as: anisakiasis, toxoplasmosis, echinococcosis, Giardia spp. and Cryptosporidum spp. infections, as well as other dangerous parasitic diseases.
During the conference, topics related to modification of legal and quality assurance requirements regarding Trichinella and other parasites are also discussed. Another important subject of the conference is the prevention of parasite infections and the production of safe food. The main goal of these meetings is to transfer knowledge and spread guidelines for a good medical and veterinary practice.
